2018 Owl Heroes Recognized at June 8th Field Day

FORT EDWARD, NY – Grassland Bird Trust (GBT) Board Members and volunteers recognized Landowner Merrilyn Pulver, New York State Senator Betty Little and Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner as OWL HEROES at our 1st Annual Grassland Bird Field Day in June for their contributions to grassland bird conservation in New York State.

Pulver received the award for her perseverance in conserving 180 acres of open grassland surrounding her family farm in Fort Edward. The lands were purchased by New York State last summer and added to the Washington County Grasslands Wildlife Management Area (WMA). The WMA is managed by NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).

Senator Little and Assemblywoman Woerner were chosen as GBT’s “Legislators of the Year” and received Owl Hero Awards for their work to pass legislation requiring New York State to pay taxes on lands it owns in the Washington County Grasslands towns of Fort Edward, Argyle and Kingsbury.

We appreciate their support for GBT and the birds!
